It looks like Kanye West and G.O.O.D Music missed out on signing one of the hottest artists, French Montana, due to Mr. West not owning a cell phone.

Montana, who had the attention of most major record labels, recently decided to take his talents to Bad Boy, signing with Diddy and the legendary label this past December. He spoke with Angie Martinez about the situation on Tuesday (January 24).

“I met up with him [West] one time and then I met up with him again,” French said. “There were things that I was used to ’cause I was already moving. I’m like a money train.”

A picture of French and Kanye back stage at a stop on the Watch the Throne tour kicked-off the "French signing to G.O.O.D Music" rumors and he had believed himself the move was likely to happen until he didn’t have an easy line of contact with West.

“Kanye doesn’t have a phone; if you need to get in contact with Kanye, you have to email him,” said Montana. “You can’t tell me to do that. I don’t know how to use an e-mail, so I guess me and you is never gonna talk, and I’m gonna put my career in your hands.”

Still, Montana doesn’t hold anything against West. “He’s definitely talented, and I felt like if I went there, we would have definitely made history,” he added.

French is currently working on his debut album for Bad Boy, tentatively titled Excuse My French, his single “Shot Caller” is making noise and he can be heard on Rich Ross’s new mixtape Rich Forever. —Nicholas Sella
