Diggy Simmons has a new fan...none-other-than Common's 14-year-old daughter.

Com recently appeared on the Chelsea Lately show and confessed to the comedian that his daughter considers the 2011 XXL Freshmen a superior MC than himself.

“She’ll hear some of my songs and say, ‘That’s not better than Diggy, Diggy’s better than you,’” he said of his daughter's preference for Run's son while laughing. “I’m like, ‘You really believe that?’”

XXLMag.com hit up the former Freshman to ask him about his thoughts on the accolades and this is what he had to say:

Common is an inspiration to me and hip-hop in general. He's real influential to hip-hop and one of the best to do it, so the fact that [the compliment] came from Common’s daughter was extremely flattering and definitely cute...

It’s a very big deal [that my fans] look at me in such a high stature and they pay attention and love my music so much. They pay attention to my content and what I do lyrically. That means the world to me and I definitely don’t take it for granted. Just having as many fans as I do and supporters and people that go hard for me I always return the love back… I mean, you know, [my music career has] been two-and-half almost three years in the making now. So I hope that it would come along and [that I'd] find more people, more fans that believe in me so much. It’s mind blogging, I’d say that...

Aside from Common, people that I look up to that are influential [are] Tribe Called Quest, Nas, the mid-90s stuff. [And if the opportunity to collaborate with Common came up], man, I'd definitely do it. I'd love to. He's one of my inspirations and somebody I look up to in hip-hop. So, I would definitely do it, hands down.—As told to Mariel Concepcion
