XXL Predicts Drake’s First-Week Sales Figures

After springing a leak last week, Drake’s highly anticipated sophomore album, Take Care, officially hit shelves on Tuesday (November 15). That means the rap world is only a few hours away before hitsdailydouble.com answer everyone’s question, with their first-week sales projections (based off of one-day sales figures). Before HHD drops the bomb, the XXL Staff decided to weigh in with our guestimates on one of the biggest rap release of the year.

Certain details to take into account:

a) Drake’s first album, Thank Me Later, sold a hefty 450,000 in his debut week last year, and he is most certainly a bigger star this go-round.

b) The reviews are in and XXL gave the T, Dot native’s new LP a well-deserved XL.

c) Like TML, Take Care leaked about a week ago, giving fans enough time to soak up the album and decide whether or not they wanted to buy it.

d) Drizzy’s boss, Lil Wayne, almost sold one million copies of his latest disc, Tha Carter IV, just a few months back.

With that in mind, the XXL Staff offers you our predictions. Tell us your numbers in the comments section, and be sure to stay tuned to XXLMag.com later this afternoon for the hitsdailydouble.com estimates. —XXL Staff @XXLStaff

I could see this lil nigga selling between 750,000-825,000 in his first week, because I had to go to 4 Targets before I could get one. The first 3 Targets had already sold out and I don’t think Birdman did that. His album is really better than Thank Me Later.
