New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg cleared out Zuccotti Park in Lower Manhattan, the epicenter of the Occupy Wall Street movement, this morning citing intolerable health and safety concerns for the hundreds of protesters that had camped out there for nearly two months.

However, that news isn’t stopping Russell Simmons from continuing with the movement. The hip-hop business mogul is in Boston today for Occupy Boston, where he called an emergency press conference and made a big announcement.

According to Global Grind, Simmons presented a Constitutional amendment written for a true democracy by a leading Senior Congressman, which bars all but public financing for Federal candidates running for public office.

Simmons’ amendment seemingly speaks directly for the protestors that have been trying to take and balance out power from the powers that be in Washington and have the wealthy 1% give back to the majority 99%.

Simmons previously told XXL that he’d like to get rappers involved in the movement in perhaps an organized rally this spring. Rappers such as Kanye West, Immortal Technique, Bun B, Lupe Fiasco, Talib Kweli and David Banner have all supported the movement.—Jakinder Singh
