Even after the autopsy on Heavy D's body was completed, it's still not completely clear what the cause of death was for the late rap star, who died last week.

The Los Angeles Times is reporting that the coroner's office has deferred judgement on what lead to Heav's untimely death, "pending the results of toxicology tests." Determining the exact cause of death could take a few weeks, according to the report. A spokesman for the coroner, Ed Winter, said that running tox tests on relatively young people—Heavy D was 44 when he passed away—is normal procedure. "We need to see what's in his system," he said.

Heavy D, who had a string of hits in the late 1980s and '90s, died last Tuesday, November 8, in California.

An open memorial for the late rap star is scheduled for Thursday, while a private funeral is set to follow Friday, both in Mount Vernon, New York. Diddy and Rev. Al Sharpton are expected to speak at the latter. —Adam Fleischer
