After suffering a near fall, Eminem’s boxing flick is back in the works.

Southpaw, the tale of a lefty welterweight boxer who becomes champ, is back in contention after the film was shelved by its original distributor DreamWorks in August, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The Hollywood Reporter says the film, which would be Eminem’s first major movie role since the critically acclaimed 8 Mile of 2002, has been picked up by Sony Pictures Entertainment.

“Southpaw” is supposed to start production early next year with Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) tapped as the director. –Jakinder Singh
