Bun B to Appear On Rick Ross’s God Forgives, I Don’t

A couple of weeks back XXL brought you the news that Rick Ross is teaming up with the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul, Mary J. Blige on his December 13 LP, God Forgives, I Don’t (Ross is also slated to appear on Mary’s upcoming My Life 2… The Journey Continues [Act 1]) on November 21). XXL has now learned that the Bawse has also collaborated with a King for his anticipated project, an Underground King.

“I am on God Forgives, I Don’t,” Bun said last night via phone from Houston. “I can say that. That song is crazy. The song I did with Ross is really crazy.”

Bun didn’t want to give too many details away about his friend’s record, but he did regal at Ross’ boardroom instinct.

“It’s a beautiful thing watching him evolve as an artist and businessman,” Bun expressed. “See him reaching out for people he feels have talent, not just people he can easily market and put out as a record company [and] sign artists he believes in. There was no way anyone could predict that Wale would be on MMG. There was no way anyone could predict Stalley would be on MMG, but if you look at the lyrical ability and the pure raw talent they have to be respected as artists. I think Ross was very smart to tie these people in with his strong movement, give them an opportunity to expose themselves to people they may have not had the opportunity to expose themselves to before. Also, giving them a machine to get behind them and push them, giving them that extra confidence that they bring to the table as artists. It’s a beautiful situation man.”

Bun is also at work on his next album, but isn’t quite sure when it will come out yet. He wants to tie into a potential television situation he’s been talking to the G4 cable network about doing a show that is similar to the live “Red Bull Em-See” events he’s been hosting around the country.

Another focus of the OG MC is his artist Money Moe. Moe has two mixtapes that Bun wants to release this year. —Shaheem Reid
