Lil Wayne has an affinity for Bun B. The Southern rap legend was invited to be a part of an elite guest list that made it onto Weezy’s platinum-selling LP, Tha Carter IV. Bun starts the album's outro, but he told XXLMag.com he had no idea who else would perform on the beat.

"At the time, nobody knew who all was gonna be on the song," he said.

Turns out Weezy also selected Nas, Shyne and Busta Rhymes for the outro.

"I think it was told to everyone that 'this is a song Wayne is gonna put on the album, he wants all of his current favorite MCs to be a part of it,'" he explained. "That 's love in itself.

"I've had a long relationship with Wayne," he added. "I've watched him mature not just as a artist, but as a man. I'm honored he still looks to me the way he does."

When asked who had his favorite verse, outside of himself of course, Bun tipped his fitted towards Queensbridge.

"I liked the fact that Nas and I went back to back," Bun said. "I'm a big fan of his, I've only had one chance to actually record with him and that's on the 'Leaders (Remix)'. It's always good to stand next to a legend. I don’t get caught up in my status, I give credit where credit is due. Nas deserves all the credit in the world for the contribution he's given to hip-hop. He's just as good as he's ever been if not better. I thought we sounded pretty good next to each other."

So how about more collaboration from the timeless pair? Bun says he obviously would welcome another pairing with Nas, but he won't rush it.

"It's something we've discussed, that we want to record more, but it’s all about time and opportunity,” he said. “You don't want to rush or force [a] Nas verse. He wouldn’t let you. That’s one thing too."
