When it comes to his forthcoming LP, God Forgives, I Don’t, Rick Ross has been playing it pretty close to the vest. So far, the only information the Maybach Music Group boss has expressed about the album is that it’ll be a “classic.” Luckily his collaborators aren’t as tight-lipped. Mary J. Blige revealed to XXL that her and Rozay recently worked together on his disc.

“I did a crazy, crazy record with Rick,” MJB told XXL. “Rick is fly. He picks the best beats man. That guy is amazing with that.”

Blige shared that her and XXL’s October 2011 cover boy recorded the duet in a very special location in Los Angeles.

“It’s a private studio that one of our friends, he was really close to Michael Jackson, he let us use it,” Mary said. “It’s actually Marvin Gaye’s studio. It [has] murals of Michael Jackson all over the [walls], and Marvin Gaye. That was the last place [Michael] actually worked at before he passed. It’s such a good vibe.”

The Grammy-award-winning singer seems ready to get back into the vocal booth with Miami rap star, sharing her affection for him.

“Rick Ross is beautiful,” she added. “ I just love him. So much respect to Rick Ross; he’s the truth. [He’s] such a gentleman [and] open and honest. [He’s] super talented and a G. He’s amazing; a really good person, and a lot of fun.”

Stay tuned for a full-length feature with the legendary R&B diva in XXL’s forthcoming November issue, where we selected 20 rappers to interview her. —Shaheem Reid
