Jay-Z and Kanye West or should we say, The Throne, will be premiering the video for their fist single, "Otis," tonight (August 11)  and everyone at XXL is very excited, not necessarily because we are caught up in the hype surrounding Watch the Throne’s release (although we totally are), but because famed filmmaker and all-around oddball, Spike Jonze, directed the clip.

For those unaware of Jonze’s résumé, he started out making a name for himself directing really strange music videos in the 1990s for everyone from the Beastie Boys to Daft Punk to Bjork, and then graduated to becoming an Oscar-nominated movie director, behind such unusual flicks as Being John Malkovich, Adaptation and Where the Wild Things Are.

What some people tend to forget is that Jonze has been responsible for quite a lot of unique rap videos. With that in mind, XXL dug through the proverbial YouTube crates to dig up five of our favorite Spike Jonze-helmed hip-hop-clips. It’s about to get weird.—Jesse Gissen

The Pharcyde “Drop”

Spike actually shot this video backwards. Now that’s a bizzare ride.

The Notorious B.I.G. “Sky’s the Limit”
Spike loves the kids.

Puff Daddy “It’s All About the Benjamins (Rock Remix)”

It doesn’t get much iller than watching Puff, The LOX, and Lil’ Kim crashing a cheesy high school reunion as a riot ensues. Rock, rock on.

Ludacris “Get Back”

Forget about throwing ’bows, Luda busts some ass with his supersized forearms and fists in this strange clip. Why? We’re not exactly sure, but it’s awesome.

Fat Lip “What’s Up Fat Lip”

It’s doesn’t get more depressing or hilarious than this.
