This past June, XXLMag.com live streamed Statik Selektah creating an entire EP with Freddie Gibbs in one night. Come October, though, Statik will be releasing a project that’s taken a bit more time to come together, as he preps his fourth full-length compilation album, Population Control.

The project is set to be a showcase of some of the best talent from hip-hop’s new generation, with guests including Mac Miller, Big K.R.I.T., Freddie Gibbs, Pill, Dom Kennedy, Chris Webby, XV, Smoke DZA, LEP Bogus Boy, Action Bronson and more. Plus, there will be a healthy array of established veterans, such as Talib Kweli, Bun B, Joell Ortiz, Sean Price and Skyzoo.

"Every person I meet is a rapper, DJ, or makes beats,” Boston-area native Statik said in a press release. “This is my way of saying who is legit from the new generation and I added a few of the OGs that still care about our music. This is a different sound from my previous albums. It's fresh and younger, but still very raw. I'm excited to show the older rap heads how dope some of the new guys are, as well as show some of the kids following the new guys how the OGs get down."
