Taking a cue from Jay-Z and Kanye West, Lil Wayne will release his highly anticipated album, Tha Carter IV digitally first. Difference is his LP will drop immediately following MTV’s Video Music Awards this Sunday, August 28.

When the clock strikes midnight, C IV will be available on iTunes, Amazon and other online retailers.

"I am extremely excited to be the first artist to utilize such an amazing idea,” Wayne said in a statement. "I hope that I can open the door for others.”
