XXLMAG.com joined Swizz Beatz as he returned to his hometown of the Bronx last Thursday (July 14) to give back to the community through a new campaign with Pepsi-Cola known as Bronx Flavor. During the event, we caught up with the One Man Band Man to get an update on his new album, Haute Living.

While it is still uncertain about the release date of the actual disc—which features star-studded guest appearances from Jay-Z, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Lenny Kravitz, Bono of U2 and more— it seems as if Swizzy has some non-traditional plans for the CD and for it’s promotion.

“It’s not even an album no more, it’s a project,” he told XXL, “Everything that I come up with, I want it to be an event that you could remember whether it’s the right video, it’s the right timing, it’s the right concepts.”

“What you would do with an album [promotion wise] is what I want to do with each single,” he added.

To clarify, for fans that thought he scrapped the album, Swizz explained, “The album ain’t change, its just the way of putting it out. I just felt like I wanted to do it bigger. I rather stretch it out and make every song make sense you know. Bono and Kanye, I can’t just throw that out. I have too many hidden gems on there. I want to really take my time and paint the picture, but, they’ll be seeing that starting next week.”
