Mac Miller took to UStream to announce the title of his upcoming debut album, Blue Slide Park, yesterday night (July 5). Anticipating the release, XXLMag.com dialed up the Rostrum Records rookie to find out more details on the project.

“Expect some awesomeness on the album,” the Pittsburgh native told XXL.

Mac says he’s been working diligently on the disc, whose title borrows the name of a playground located in his hometown. So far he’s already been in the studio with his team of producers known as IDLabs but he’s also recorded several tracks with Chuck Inglish of The Cool Kids and Clams Casino, an up-and-coming beatmaker that works a lot with fellow 2011 XXL Freshman alum, Lil B . “I make music at a real rapid pace you know, I been pumping out songs like pretty much nightly,” he explained in order to “push myself to reach a higher level of quality.”

Asked if he plans on collaborating with a lot of other rappers for the disc, Miller responded: “I just want it to be straight up me for the album.”

Since signing with Rostrum last year, Mac has released two popular mixtapes, 2010’s K.I.D.S. and 2011’s Best Day Ever, along with an EP, On and On and Beyond, which has sold over 40,000 copies since it dropped last March.

Miller recently completed his Incredibly Dope Tour, selling out shows nationwide in the course of six months. He is currently on a brief nine-date tour in Canada. —Martin Spasov
