Big Boi’s Daughter Gets Record Label For Her 16th Birthday

Big Boi launches new label with daughter…

Big Boi decided not to give a typical Sweet Sixteen birthday gift for daughter Jordan Patton. Instead of receiving a car, Jordan received a music label called  Purple Kidz. As the name suggests, the label will focus on finding and developing younger signees—a move that was prompted when Jordan shared with her father an artist she discovered while browsing YouTube.

“She just has an ear for music,” said the OutKast rapper. “She listens to everything ’cause I listen to everything.”

That same Internet find has turned into Purple Kidz first signed artist, 13-year-old Gabbie Rae, who performed over the weekend at the label’s launch party held at Atlanta’s Hard Rock Café. —Nicole LoPresti

That exactly what us as parents are supposed to be doing, giving the kids a chance. I never got a chance, but still turned out ok from hard work.
