Slaughterhouse Begin Recording Shady Debut
In an interview with billboard.com, Royce Da 5’9” revealed that the group has finished “about six songs” so far, for the as-yet-untitled disc, laying down most of them while out in L.A. for the Grammy Awards.
Royce said group mates, Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz and Crooked I, have been emailing song ideas ever since. But just because they have already began the recording process don’t expect the disc to drop anytime soon.
"The first album [2009’s self titled disc for eOne] we were kind of behind the eight ball," Royce said. "We had to complete the album in a matter of six days. With this album there's no time constraints. We've got a good budget. I don't think we've carved out a direction yet, but it's coming along."
Royce says Eminem is playing a big role in the LP. “He's very excited," Royce added, "and I'm always excited when I see his level of excitement, because he doesn't get excited about a lot. I love seeing him happy, and this project definitely makes him happy."
Next up for Royce is his new solo CD, Success is Certain, a conceptual follow up to 2004’s Death is Certain. The disc is set to come out on April 26.—Elan Mancini
