Asher Roth Tweets About Nappy Headed Hoes

In late April 2009, Roth tweeted that he was at Rutgers “hanging out with nappy headed hoes.” The message was meant to poke fun at Don Imus’s similarly worded comments about the Rutgers women’s basketball team, though the joke was not well-received by many. Just a few days later, Asher apologized in a statement. “The twitter situation was an immature attempt to poke fun at an infamously moronic joke,” he said. Roth’s debut, Asleep in the Bread Aisle, had been released just a few days earlier, on April 20.

      It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out what he’s talking about. He says he thought Arizona was God’s country because he felt free, watching the sunrise, riding four wheelers, that’s different from the madness of city life. But the devil wouldn’t let him be free. He says he doesn’t wanna come back, they always lock him up for dumb shit. That’s how states get you on paperwork to where you’re stuck and can’t leave and they can fuck with you anytime they stop you. That’s the same state that basically passed laws making racial profiling legal. How hard is it to understand?
