Black people (Primarily black women) are really the backbone for every black artist to maintain a career. Angie Stone, Jill Scott, Maxwell, R. Kelly, Monica, and others can still tour as much as the legends (Patti, Gladys, ect) because their generation of fans are loyal to them. Unless it’s rock the bells or overseas, rap acts typically fad out like boy bands or sell out small venues. Shit Chris Brown is schedualed to go silver in a week for keeping girls wet even when going upside Rihianna’s head but Slaughterhouse can’t even sell over 50K in a week with the shady hype. And don’t say that the hype wasn’t in full effect because Drake went gold with a free, pre-released mixtape.

The biggest releases from 2010 were in some way catering to women. Both Common and Consequence were given Kanye’s blessings but Common is more successful because his loyal demographic (Black women) still fuck with him. I suggest Drake should fuck with Bria Myles again or another dark skinned chick just for PR purposes just in case the industry finds another light skinned, well mannered ninja with wavy hair that raps (maybe Diggy).

But anyway Wayne right now is more closer to relying on his white fan base and even that’s a bit iffy what with even Detox loosing the little steam it has with the Em-Airplanes single. I’m just saying that disrespecting a black women isn’t a minor offense for black artists as it was before and catering to them will led to better success.
