Lately we’ve been noticing a trend of hip-hop music being featured in trailers for movies that aren't specifically targeting the hip-hop audience. Kanye West's "Power" seems to be the movie trailer song du jour, as it was featured in the trailer for Oscar-nominated The Social Network late last year, and now in Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro's Limitless, which opens in theaters tomorrow (March 18). The old school Ice Cube joint doesn’t just get played but actor Zach Galifinakis quotes a line in the trailer.

The former NBA Playoffs anthem finds a new home with The Karate Kid.


The Dilemma (Starring Vince Vaughn and Kevin James) featuring Cee Lo Green's "Fuck You"

Although this smash was technically termed as pop, R&B or alternative, Cee Lo's a veteran of the rap game so we’ll let this one slide.


The Social Network (Starring Jesse Eisenberg) featuring Kanye West's "Power"

Fittingly Yeezy’s "Power" is in the most critically acclaimed of all the movies using hip-hop in their trailers.



Limitless (Starring Bradley Cooper and Robert DeNiro) featuring Kanye West's "Power"

'Ye isn’t on this list just once but twice and with the same song, displaying the magnitude of the joint.



The Hangover Part II (Starring Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis) featuring Jay-Z's "Reminder"

Only fitting that Jay would make an appearance on this list, and "Reminder" fits in so well with The Hangover Part II trailer.



The Fighter (Starring Mark Whalberg and Christian Bale) featuring Jay-Z's "Run This Town" featuring Kanye West and Rihanna

Jay-Z like Kanye appears twice on this list, this time along side Rihanna.


The Green Hornet (Starring Seth Rogen) featuring Coolio's "Gangsta’s Paradise"

Not only are we seeing current hip-hop music in these trailers, but novelty throwbacks as well.
