Diddy Sells 100,800 Units in First Week

Diddy’s Last Train to Paris had a lot more passengers than expected…close to 45,000.

According to the Nielsen SoundScan report, which was released today (December 22), Diddy and his Dirty Money crew debuted at No. 7 on The Billboard 200 album charts after selling about 100,800 copies of their LP, Last Train to Paris. The disc—the hip-hop mogul’s first since 2006’s Press Play—was only projected to sell 60,000 to 65,000 units.

Directly below Puff at No. 8 is Nicki Minaj. The Young Money Princess’s debut, Pink Friday, pushed an additional 97,500 CDs off the shelves over the last week, making her four-week total stand at 658,400.

Slippin from his spot at No. 2 last week to No. 21 is T.I. The incarcerated rapper’s new disc, No Mercy, earned about 69,400 in sales this go-round, making his two week total equal 229,100.

At no. 22 is Eminem who bumped up three chairs from last week. Recovery also received a 39 percent increase in sales, after fans purchased 68,500 more copies of the LP. In 26-weeks, Em has managed to accumulate an overall tally of 3,214,300.

Sitting right below the Detroit lyricist at No. 23 is Kanye West. My Dark Beautiful Twisted Fantasy moved 66,100 units this sales cycle, making its total stand at 738,100.

Failing to make it onto The Billboard 200 this week is Sheek Louch. The D-Block rapper’s first release for Def Jam, Donnie G: Don Gorilla, sold about 5,500 units in his first week.

Next week look for Ghostface Killah’s new album Apollo Kids to impact the Billboard 200. —Elan Mancini
