Jay Electronica will not be releasing his debut album this year, despite an article posted in the new issue of Interview magazine.

In the story, it says the New Orleans rapper, who recently signed with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation label, would be dropping his highly anticipated debut LP, Act II: Patients of Nobility before the end of 2010, but a rep for the Brooklyn rap legend’s imprint told XXLMag.com they do not have a confirmed release date scheduled for Electronica just yet, and it is too early to determine the title for his disc. Yet they are aiming to put a disc in stores sometime in 2011.

In the Interview story, Elect explained what differentiates him from other rap artists. “People are afraid to go into an environment they are completely unfamiliar with,” he said, later adding: “Nothing against Drake, Rick Ross, Young Jeezy, Kanye West, but they’re in a certain kind of machine that doesn’t afford them the freedom to do that. The greats have always been the people who gave you of themselves, as opposed to just giving you a product.”

As previously reported, Jay-Z announced his deal with the “Exhibit C” MC during a media event at New York nightclub, The Box, earlier this month. Since then he has released two new tracks, “The Announcement” and “Shiny Suit Theory” which also features cameos from Hov, The-Dream and Charlotte Gainsbourg.

A rep for Roc Nation also said that as of now, they are unsure if Electronica will drop his long delayed Act II mixtape before his official album.
