Your boy Steed can say something that many A-list rappers can’t—he’s appeared on a Dr. Dre album. On the Aftermath head’s 2001 (released in 1999), Steed checked in for the appropriately titled “Pause for Porno (Skit).” Two years later, Steed tried his hand at a full-on album, Jake’s Latest and Greatest, distributed to deaf ears by Select-O-Hits. With song titles like “I Ain’t Yo Captain Save-A-Hoe!,” “Think About These Nutz!,” and “Abracadabra, Bitch Disappear!” (to paraphrase Hov, “Just because you love exclamation points doesn’t mean that you’re nice.”) it’s hard to understand why. His biggest claim to fame that’s hip-hop related—in title, anyway—is the long-running DVD series Freaks, Hoes & Flows. Why no exclamation points?

    Everybody is a rapper now. “If you can’t sing and have no talent try rapping.” I think this is the motto for every single piece of crap out there who has not even the foggiest idea about what the art form is about. Why do rappers want to be actors and actors [ALL OF THEM, Mainstream and otherwise] want to rap? All of the above should stay in they lane because many of them aren’t even good at their day job.
