Only one Em solo album HASN’T won the Grammy for Best Rap Album (I think it’s easy to guess what one), so there’s no way this classic won’t win.

this album is great..has like one song i wasnt really into but other then that its great…i love how he uses chord progressions in his songs (Space Bound, Love the way you lie…)..i wont compre it to The MMLP because this album goes in the completely opposite direction…on MMLP he was angry on this one hes uplifting and getting his personal demons off of his chest…if you dont like it…thats cool..maybe your just not into uplifting music….but if you are you will love this album…his flow is at better then ever..the punchlines, the story telling…its all there…and of course we get our typical eminem humor lines…album is a classic..much better then encore and relapse

Compared to ENCORE & RELAPSE, Eminem definitely delivered this time around. Just Great!

I am an avid fan of Eminem and have been listening to him since the Slim Shady LP and have listened to almost everything underground he has done also. To me The Eminem show is by far his best album to date and it set the bar for great albums.The first album he was puttin his name out there, The second album he was spittin venom and callin every one out and yes it is a classic but I dont think he was at his creative peak until The Eminem Show.
As Far as Encore and Relapse goes. Encore to me had some really good songs, I will stress SOME, the rest was pure garbage. Same with Relapse. It had some of his best songs in a long time on it while the rest was garbage and left the cd feeling uneven.

Now Recovery, I did listen to all the tracks, though I didnt download it because I will buy it.
As a big fan of his work I was a little let down by it but still loved it due to the fact that he put his all into the album and lyrically he murdered this cd.
MY ONLY GRIPES. Was the beat selection ( while some of the beats where pretty good, some where ok at best) and he sung a little too much some times and it kinda got on my nerves. Im sorry but I really miss the hell out of the dope ass beats from the great albums from his past and his chemistry with Dre was second to none.
My favorite tracks so far are Goin through Changes ( love he used a Ozzy Osbourne hook for the song), 25 to life, Talkin to my self and Not Afraid.

Once again stop being simple stans and bitches over albums. Everyone has their opinion, I own all of EM’s work and enjoy the way he delivers and writes his lyrics. The subject matter isn’t always something I am checking for and the beats are sometimes meh but he never disappoints on delivery and word play.

Now seriously folks giving something a classic rating is about as silly as calling someone the G.O.A.T. How can we even rate it as a classic what genre challenging changes will this album bring about? How is this much different from the formula Em has always used more or less? Encore was his low point album and relapse his reintroduction of sorts as the slim shady character so by default this is a attempt to capture the brooding feel of a mmlp without the out right comedy of songs like “without me”. But all in all it is a solid effort if you are a fan of what EM does it didn’t blow me away nor did it make it to Marshall Mathers lp levels which is his blueprint in my opinion. This ablum is large and todays popped out climate maybe an xl. But classic I just don’t see how,folks need to stop throwing words like genuis and classic around it cheapens the meaning.

P.S. it is nice to see xxl give bias support to someone besides the overhyped garbage that young moneys camp keeps throwing out. I guess dre and ivine are willing to pay for love to LOL

i haven’t listened to it yet. call me old fashion but i like to wait to its offically released. The tracks that i did heard “i’m not afraid” i’m scared to listen to that. it sounds gay. to forced. The joint with pink. Lyrics bad hook. At this point in his career, Em can make an album full of seasme street songs and get great reviews from his stans. ya, that word is played out, so is played out, but em has prehaps one of the largest groups of fans that no nothing about music. Before I saw that the overwhelming majority felt it should get an XXL rating on the last page, I had only read the comments so I had to go see what the fuss was about, cause the comments on here are all over the place. I just finished it, and I wanted to say to the idiots nitpicking the beats on this Album, do us all a favor and find another music genre to like, and get the hell away from Hip Hop! With 5 deeply personal songs this white boy just pissed on almost every popular hip hop album to come out in recent years.

Sit back cause I gotta lot of get off my chest! RAP is about telling stories to timed rhythms and melody. They inspire, console, educate, and /or can invoke feelings of good times, sadness, etc.. After skills, (cause lets face it if you aint got skills no one’s gonna listen to your ass,) Since the days of Melle substance has, and always will be, given more significance! What he did on this album is noble and brilliant. Rather than talking to us about politics, or general social issues in the hood, or in the world, that people may be able to relate to, but feel powerless over. This guy does something different, he got super personal and talked about what went on behind closed door’s in his personal life, when his grief was too much for him to bare. That stuff he talked about, like re-watching all the footage of his best friend, alone while popping pills, being a recluse, going over and over what people told him happened the night he was killed, and that he attempted to killed himself *with his daughter in the house*! That shit is deep! My brother is going through this very same thing right now, and Imma get this album for him, so he can hear both of these songs, I don’t give a f**k if he’s singing the chorus on YNO or not! He needs to hear, what it was like for this guy, what happened and what it’s like now! It’s extremely hopeful for people living through that! You know a black man is shot dead in LA almost every damn day? Every one of them got best friends who are left to struggle with their deaths, and make sense of it. How many Rappers are writing songs about how they couldn’t deal wit stuff like that, the effects on their kids and families, and what happened?? That’s really personal shit. Most brothers in the hood don’t deal wit it in a healthy way, they get revenge, or they stay angry about it, and live with a fcked up perception of life, for the rest of their life, or they do what this guy did and they don’t make it! They don’t turn that shit into something positive, or talk about celebrating their life, and living their lives for them! And he tells the story in an incredibly personal way, no fragmented lines, lists of vague adjectives, wordplay etc, that we usually hear in rhymes about struggles.. He does it like he’s having an intimate conversation with you, just straight from the heart, real talk, that everyone can understand! That’s RESPECT right there!

THEN the jaw droppers – In the one damn song you buffoons at XXL “ain’t feeling” he tells everyone about the feelings a woman made him feel, admits the power women have over him, his fears of being hurt, and the pain and anger he felt when she didn’t want him anymore.. He kills her and commits suicide in the end.. And the only thing you wanna mention is the beat, and honkeys?? Are you f’king serious? A Hard core super star Rapper, expressing how hard and deep he falls in love, and admits a woman didn’t want HIM and dumped HIM? Huh? My brain shorted out when I heard that. And never once does his ego attempt to water it down with mentions of sex, expensive gifts, money, how big a star he is, how many women want him, his big house or his cars! He stays ultra personal, nothing but raw personal emotions. It’s a rare thing to hear a Rap song in which the artist isn’t portraying women as hoe’s, or that they want to smack them around, rape them, or buying them expensive gifts to impress them into to getting their clothes off. And all women want is money! You know how many men really share the feelings he exposes, but will never say that shit! He sure as hell did, and again, no fragmented sentences, no metaphors, just straight from the heart so everyone can understand, and relate to it!..

THEN he gets even more personal and tells us all, about how he struggles with domestic violence and express’s remorse for hitting his woman! How many hardcore Rappers have the guts to get personal like that? How many RAP songs do we have in which a Rapper express’s his own struggle not to hit his woman when he’s angry? How many G’s in the industry, and in the hood either do it or have done it?? If and when they do talk about it, like 2pac did, they do it generally, or through telling someone else’s story, as if it’s distant! Once again he does it straight from the heart! Yep that gets RESPECT right there!!

I’m not saying we should totally change the substance of Rap about women, cause frankly sometimes it’s funny when we’re abused in stories, but the addition of the other side of that abuse, and the admission of that, on a level this deep, is refreshing. And it takes allot of guts! Don’t think he doesn’t know, he’s risking making himself a target for every Rap artist with a grudge or envy, to use that shit to make fun of him! It was very clever for him to include empowerment/ diss tracks, to serve as a warning to anyone even considering using it! I applaud him and I hope this guy just gave other Rappers more confidence to get more personal!

Personally I loved, loved, allot of the beats, they’re a very creative mixture of different styles, and I was totally bumpin and my bass was thumpin through the whole album. But even if they aren’t others nigs flavors, you’d look like a fool if you said they weren’t crafted and composed beautifully and skillfully! Add to it the level talent and skills this white boy displays, well then using terms such as brilliant, and classic when describing this album is acceptable! The day we start giving albums poor to mediocre ratings because we gave more significance to our flavor of beats, than to skills, & talent, and messages of overcoming grief, addiction, voicing struggles with violence toward others, and struggles in relationships, this genre will seal it’s coffin. So any of the shits reading this mag not calling this a classic do us all in the genre a favor, STFU & GTFOH!

eminem is just recovering from his downhill rap career

Since its 100 to 1 if I even make a slight critique I won’t bother with followups. I made a strong point in his video post on here about having the aura and recognition about him that pushes him to continually be this God. Not one Staff member of probably the last read hip hop magazine is going to stand up and grow some balls to admit that his pen game is slipping and his beats are more commercial than ever before? I gave this twenty straight listens during my gym routines, because die hard fans beg and plead to give it one more try, and from over exposure like this. I’m raised off of KRS, Big Daddy Kane, and Guru. Watched them get erased for Eminem, Flo Rida and Soulja Boy. Saw Jeru and Pharaoh Monch numbers fail in comparison to like Rick Ross. People don’t even know who Slaughterhouse are or any of the members individually. Yet you are going to listen to this album one more time and tell me in the great world of Hip Hop this album deserves the highest honors with the likes of 36 Chambers? This is the last credible magazine left, I know what Ems done for you and has stayed loyal to your magazine, but if he gets the highest honors, myself and true crate digging lyric loving mcs and the general soul of hip hop is going to die a little.

Eminem has and always will be overrated, and this album wasn’t awful don’t get me wrong, but these reviews are a bit suspect. In the prime years of hip hop he would have been checked a long time ago. But if he’s giving his long time fans the sort of thing they want, I am happy for everyone.

Wow, I didn’t think I’d have anyone say anything positive in my direction, thanks for words of wisdom even if opposing and for those who understood my argument. I won’t say baa and march along, but I will agree I wasn’t adding all the factors for his success, I overlooked factors I personally don’t think makes a top five hip hop artist. Given sales, and this “it” factor, and some other points made, I would say I might have been harsh on his entry to a top spot. After listening last night and this morn, I still don’t think this is a phenomenal record though. I admit I’m stuck in a decade and lost touch with whats hot these days, you have to understand when I really engulfed myself in hip hop the top ten countdown would have like Erule – Listen Up at number 10, you had to be incredible just to make it back then. Exactly P, Eminem is one of the most respected in the game. He isn’t overrated because he has mass appeal, and because he is white. Being white did help though at least in making into the mainstream scene. But his skills speak for themself. He talks about it :
