My 2 bits:
This is the best news I heard in boxing. THE TRUE POUND FOR POUND IS BACK

Mr. Mayweather Jr. is a very smart man as well as a pure talented boxer & fighter. I'm glad he decided to come back while he's still very young & his body can do what the brain tell it to do at a split second that matters a lot in boxing when you can see a punch coming and be able to counter or be faster at combinations. I just wish he will fight a tune-up fight before a "Big Fight"
Mr. Mayweather Jr. didn't have anything to prove before he retired and still don't, but don't take fighters lightly because of that.

Heres the story:

Floyd Mayweather Jr. is back, and he's packing as much swagger as he is a punch.

Saturday, in a press conference before Manny Pacquiao vs. Ricky Hatton at MGM Grand, Mayweather (39-0, 25 KOs) strutted onto the stage to reclaim his title as the sport's pound-for-pound king before he took a 16-month leave of absence.

Now, he'll face lightweight Juan Manuel Marquez (50-4-1, 37 KOs) in what is being billed as a welterweight matchup on July 18 even though it likely will be at a catchweight (HBO PPV).

Mayweather Promotions, the fighter's company, is the lead promoter in association with Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions, which handles Marquez.

De La Hoya, the biggest draw in PPV history, retired after losing to Pacquiao five months ago.

"Somebody has got to keep the sport up and running, Mayweather said, "so why not me?"

The unveiling of this matchup was supposed to have more pomp and circumstance, particularly with the introduction of the fighters. Instead of spotlights and drum rolls, as their names were announced they simply took their seats on the stage at Hollywood Theater.

"The king is back," said Leonard Ellerbe, Mayweather's adviser, manager and confidant. "This is truly one of the most anticipated returns in quite some time."

After Marquez's fight in February, a ninth-round knockout of Juan Diaz, he called out Mayweather.

He got his wish.

"A small man will never retire me," said Mayweather of Marquez, who has fought his entire career between 126-135 pounds. "He's a good small man, but I'm a great bigger man. That's the difference."

De La Hoya said even though its a welterweight fight that the contracted limit is 143 pounds. Neither Ellerbe nor Mayweather nor HBO would confirm that detail.

In Mayweather's absence, Shane Mosley has reclaimed a share of the welterweight crown but there's no linear or undisputed champion.

Mosley knocked out Antonio Margarito in January. Margarito stopped Miguel Cotto in a unification bout last year. Cotto defeated Mosley by close decision in 2007.

Ellerbe promises Mayweather won't take Marquez lightly, and that fights against bigger opposition is in his future.

"Floyd has been off almost two years. No matter who you are you just don't come back," he said. "We have our hands full. … But all roads lead through Mayweather.

"Mosley is one of the top fighters in the world. Mosley is definitely in the picture. … He can get it too."

By the way I got Pacquiao over Hatton taking nothing away from Hatton, I like Hatton, he's no bum, he's out there keeping boxing alive, but it's not going to go the distance.

One!
