Full Version: Anyone Else Not Liking The Direction That Xxl Mag Is Going In With The New Eic?
XXL Magazine > Media Assassination > Reading Is Fundamental
Teksas spelling bee champ
I must say that I don't agree with the direction that XXL is going in with Dawton as editor. Lets start with the letters section. Why does every letter or email require a response from XXL staff? Half the time, they aren't even answering questions, they're just commenting on comments which doesn't make much sense. I like it the way it used to be. People would send in comments, some good some bad, and thats where it stopped. XXL needs to lose the color commentary from the staff. Next thing that has to go is the R&B influences. This is a hip hop magazine. Those pages that they waste on R&B could be used for underground artist, or tributes to classic underground albums. Leave that R&B/Rap mix to mags like King and Vibe. I suppose because Dawton used to be over at King that this new direction is his doing, and its the wrong one. The Source has fallen off. XXL should be striving for what The Source used to be before Dave Mays and Benzino ran it into the ground. Dawton, if I wanted to read VIBE or KING, then I would buy them. I don't. I mean really, a whole feature on Super Head? Is that neccessary?
