Step one for me as I peel the first pages of XXL, is the Editorial.
See, I’m that type of chick.
Though I love the marketing ads in the front…you know all 20 of ‘em…the real meat starts at the Editorial.
This meaty page was before filled with beef. Straight up…if you read it then you know…
This Spring for Lent, I’ve given up beef, and looks like so has XXL!
XXL is a favorite magazine and I did enjoy the prev-editors written rampage, but it was just that.
Magazine industry beef…and it started to give me a nasty aftertaste.
I understood what he was talking about…but I understand music more.
Stomping thru words with drag-on sentences became hard to read as month after month the message was drilled into loyal readers heads “WE THE BEST”…but we know that, we read XXL we buy XXL and we log on to XXL.
WE live MUSIC.
So let’s talk about music…let’s write in a way that is readable and sensible and worldly.
Let’s be on some real shit and stay focused.
Let’s actually keep Hip-Hop on a Higer Level.
Let’s be the ones to choose and make that Level High.
Just like the new Iterim Editor seems to be…
From the first paragraph I wanted more.
It was clear…it was savvy and it flowed.
I cannot wait to see what tables will turn, but more I cannot wait to see the music ratings…the new artists…all the good ish XXL gives us…and the new Editorial.
Not all that hype…that negative hype…
Kudos to Vanessa Sattern so far….catch ‘ya next issue…
