K from da AK
What up y'all? This is ya boy K from da AK. That's Akron, OH (aka The Rubber City) Home Of LeBron James.
I'm 1/2 of the soon-to-be super producer team called GroundBreakers. We on the come up here in Akron, but its takin' longer than we thought to reap the benefits of the today's music industry. Right now, we got an artist who goes by the name of Filthy. His album is supposed to be coming out early to mid September. Last year we did a mixtape called 'Financial Advice', which got a lot of positive feedback from da local scene. We also did a small perfomance/party called 'The Warm Up' in 2005, it was successful, but we wanted more. So this year, we decided to do a follow-up called 'The Warm Up 2'. This one wasn't so successful because niggaz was shootin' before we even got 2 perform. This Friday (9/1/06) we havin' an album release party @ The Exotica Night Club (21 & over) in Akron (East Side), & we know this is gon' be bangin'. That's just a little bit about what's going on here wit my team. We (GroundBreakers) have worked with other local artists including Young Sopranos, Chino Nino, J-Fray, Veezo (Tha Nostra), Blaze It Up Mafia, & Young Ridiculous. Understand this though, don't think for 1 minute that we got just a local sound, we got that industry shit too. So y'all can e-mail me @groundbreakers_kx@yahoo.com if y'all wanna talk biz. We workin' on puttin' our own website together (as we speak) so y'all can actually here this crack we got instead of goin' off lip service. Being from Akron we (GroundBreakers) listen to music from all da coasts, so we ain't biased when it comes to producing hot shit. I think I've said enough right now, but look forward to hearing from artists as well as producers from everywhere to see what y'all think. Holla!

Detroit is always poppin when it comes to hip hop. Places to see live shows can be found at metrotimes.com. I personally like to go to S.L.A.M night at Fran's Roadhouse on 8mile. It's hosted by my homie Moe Nitty and it features a bunch of unsigned artists performing for cash and prizes and there's always a freestyle battle at the end of the night. Beers are cheap and the hoes are fast and juicy...Detroit style fa sho. Club Sierra on the Westside has had some good hip hop nights on Tuesday put on by Pich Blak and Big Hurk. Hip Hop nights at TNT's on 15 and Gratiot sucks ass but the $7 for 7 Rolling Rock or Corona special is a good deal and it's always fun to laugh at shitty acts like this "Skrappy" dude I saw one time rappin to a bogue ass beat talkin bout "Do the murder dance" that shit was hilarious. If you need a tour guide of the D hit me up on myspace at www.myspace.com/frizzodetroit and join my family. I got some shit going as far as my music career, peep me out.

Our scene is horrible. We have a ton of rappers who immitate southern rappers. I dont hate southern rap, but its just not our sound. The realest 2 mcs in cleveland retired so our scene is fucked royally. And the 2 who gave it up wont come back.

I'm in Connecticut and we have some great HIPHOP artists. Besides the obvious like Apathy we have the legendary ILLUS who has been recording for years with artists like Public Enemy and R.A. the Rugged Man. We also have a lot of old school legends that live in the area now like Trugoy from De La, Rakim and some of the Cold Crush.
