CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Vikings quarterback Daunte Culpepper could miss the rest of the season after injuring his right knee against Carolina on Sunday, coach Mike Tice said.

``The quarterback doesn't appear to be in good shape,'' Tice said. ``I'm not a doctor, but the initial tests are not good. It doesn't appear that it's going to be anything that we as Vikings will want to hear.

``Things happen that are devastating. This certainly, if it's as serious as it appears, is devastating to our football team.''


Culpepper ran for an 18-yard gain on the final play of the first quarter when he was hit by multiple defenders. Carolina cornerback Chris Gamble came in from the side and tackled Culpepper's leg and he immediately grabbed his knee.

Culpepper was helped off the field and taken to a cart for the ride into the locker room. The team initially said he sprained his knee.

He was on crutches with a heavy brace around his knee after the game and said he wouldn't know anything until after undergoing an MRI on Monday.

Culpepper is done for the Season there is no MIGHTS about it. Let me just say this, as bad as the Vikings are they are two games out of first place. Brad Johnson will not just sit back and take a sack like Daunte was doing cause of his injured knee. I WILL BE THE FIRST ONE TO SAY FUCK ALL OF YOU WHEN THE VIKNGS WIN THE DIVISION AT 8-8 AND MAKE THE PLAYOFFS. Anyone who says Daunte suck knows nothin about football conisdering Daunte had the second best season ever last year.

Who holds the leauge record for most total yards in a season-DAUNTE CULPEPPER LAST YEAR WAS 2nd in the leauge in passing Yards (Behind Trent Greem, bet ya'll thought it was Manning) And over 500 yards rushing with 39 TD's, and only 11 int's. ANd for those who say it was all Moss remeber that he missed 6 games last year. Moss had 13 TD's which would of still put Daunte at 26 TD's without em. Still better than most QB's
