I totally agree with you, but I think you might've confused it a bit. CO2 is the problem. Deforestation, particularly through slashing and burning, releases large amounts of carbon dioxide into the air. The absence of greenery to use the excess CO2 for photosynthesis permits the gas to enter into the atmosphere, where it accumulates and absorbs heat. This phenomenon on a worldwide scale is more commonly known as global warming.

Still, I feel you. We need to be more environmentally conscious. Our abuse of nature is slowly, but surely catching up to us.
