Forgive the misspellings! When you have alot to say; you overtype without spacing properly. If I were Ice cube and Ludacris; I would not worry about it. Focus on family, movies, and that “paper”. You know what! As people like David Walik and Lynn Rose sit in there gated communities just talking trash about African American Actors, Movies, clothing, and just in general life style; Our people are doing there thing. The funny thing is that now causian’s are now making commercials with hip hop “slang” in them for cars, fast food, and everything else, but at the same time always trying to down our culture. Oh Yeah; If they want to talk abou tmurder and crime; look at what happened in Charlotte, NC where a middleaged caucasian murdered his two 3 year old twin girls in there lavish $200,000 home while his wife stepped out to get her hair done and he was unable to get the oldest daughter due to her being at some practice at school. But this David Walik wants to put all of us in a box because h ewas beaten up by some african american or hispanic students while growing up, but remember when his ancestors murdered and raped our women and “degraded” them and thi swas all way before hip hop :-).

I thought maybe when you work for a magazine like XXL you have to at least have some common sense?? First of all, Oprah doesn’t give a shit about some fake thugs pretending to be a so called gangstas. She has more important things to do like count her millions of dollars as she laughs all the way to the bank. Your comment, “The things you don’t like to hear in rap music are real,” was really funny to me. Do you honestly believe these rappers live the life they claim? The only rappers who have done actual dirt are locked up right now and are rapping through a prison phone. Rapper X Raided got put in prison for life for killing someone and rapping about it in a song, do you think 50 Cent is about to get locked up for the same thing? HELL NO!! He’s sipping wine coolers by his pool outside of his million dollar house while his gangsta songs play all over MTV and little black kids try to mimic his “Dope” rhymes.
You people make me sick. You have no idea what struggle is or living in the hood. All you do is make up excuses for yourself and make your people look even more ignorant than they already are. I was one of 15 white kids in my High School in Los Angeles and got jumped and beat up almost every day coming home from school. My mom had to sell her bed just to make enough money to eat. That’s what I call a struggle “brotha”. You people have no idea what value and integrity is. If you think you have it so bad and want to glorify the ghetto, why don’t you go to Haiti or Africa where they slaughter and kill thousands just for the hell of it. That’s the ghetto. You glorify and praise the word that thousands of hard working black men and women fought and died to stop. I guess im just a racist cracker right? Maybe Oprah will read this and tremble with fear that someone has caught on to her. Black men and kids should be listening to meaningful music instead of music that degrades their own people. Try Del the Funkee Homosapien for example. He grew up in the Bay Area which is well known for bad areas and so called ghettos. You don’t see his Gangsta rap videos all over MTV. He may not sell billions of copies but at least he can say he has some integrity. I guess the ghetto really got to Snoop and Ice Cube. Snoop makes videos now with the Pussy Cat Dolls and Cube makes Disney movies. Guess they really went through the “STRUGGLE”.

i think oprah has realted herself to the white society that she forgot that our generation is way different from her time. True she does care about helping our culture, but how when she downs hip hop?

As a young Black woman myself you will never hear me bad mouth Ms. Oprah Winfrey. She has truly dedicated her life to uplifting all different kinds of people in more ways then I could count. With that said I’m sure she has some kind of specific explanation on why she will not allow rap artists on her show but she needs to come out with it and it better be good.

On another note, I don’t necessarily disagree with Oprah’s opinion; however, openly condemning the culture that would support her if, say, white-america decided to cast her out (i.e. because of a pending legal situation), is a mistake. This is not about opinion. We love Oprah. She is like our grandmother’s sister. I think that is the source of our hurt. It’s not a petty battle of opinions. It’s bigger then that.
