Back in August, Wiz Khalifa became the first major celebrity to get arrested for riding a hoverboard at Los Angeles International Airport. While at the time of his arrest, the two-wheel device was brand new to a lot of people, the hip-hop community was one of the first to embrace the futuristic riding machine with many rappers showing off their devices on social media. With the hoverboard becoming such a phenomenon in 2015, the coveted device became the must-have item for a lot of people. But as the mobility device gained popularity around the world, authorities in cities like London and New York began to ban the use of it.

Most recently, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines were the latest companies to announce the ban of the hoverboard. No longer allowed on their planes, the two-wheel device is said to be a safety hazard when it comes to people carrying the device on a plane. American, Delta and United are not the only airlines to have banned the popular device. Just last week, Alaska Airlines decided to ban the hoverboard for safety reasons. With Jet Blue, Hawaiian Airlines and Virgin America set to also ban the device, it’ll be interesting to see how rappers will take to latest news surrounding the removal of hoverboards at airports.
