Jordan Brand looks to make another splash in the sneaker game this spring with a brand new Air Jordan 9 iteration, which pays tribute to Carmelo Anthony's 2003 National Championship Game with his alma mater at Syracuse.

Releasing later this month at select Jordan Brand retailers, the Melo Mop Air Jordan 9 iteration features a white leather upper with wood-grain detailing on the mud guards and heel. Metallic gold touches complement the sneakers eyelets, midsole and heel while a gym red colorway is used for the Jumpman logo on each of the side panels. In addition, Jordan Brand will feature Carmelo's Syracuse jersey number, No. 15, on the heel of each sneaker, and Melo's nickname "Melo Mop" in script on the insole of both shoes.

The Air Jordan 9 was originally released in 1993 after Michael Jordan retired from basketball the first time around. Inspired by the baseball cleats MJ wore during his minor league days, the sneakers have been retroed by Jordan Brand multiple times in the past.

The Air Jordan IX Melo Mop sneakers are set to drop at select Jordan Brand retailers on April 27.
