Dapper Dan Teams Up With Gucci to Open Boutique in Harlem

Style icon Dapper Dan has teamed up with high-end brand Gucci to open up the first major luxury boutique in Harlem.

Announcing the boutique’s grand opening via Twitter, the Harlem native gave followers insight of what to expect at the luxury retail space. “A sign of the times. For the 1st time in history, a major luxury brand store has opened in #Harlem: @Gucci by @DapperDanHarlem," he tweeted. "With made-to-order garments for your taste & in your specific measurements, I will create your design from your mind, or come up with a design for you.”

Operating by appointments only, Gucci and Dapper Dan’s store will carry ready-to-wear items and accessories that are limited and exclusive to the Harlem boutique. Along with the announcement of the new location, Gucci put up a giant billboard on a Harlem rooftop to announce the special partnership.

Dapper Dan is regarded as an icon in the world of fashion for his trendy and innovative custom pieces. He made a name for himself by creating custom clothing like Gucci jackets for popular celebrities, sports athletes and rappers in the 1980s and early 1990s. Dan was able to elevate his brand to a worldwide scale once his pieces were accepted by the fashion industry.

Along with the grand opening of the Gucci-backed Dapper Dan boutique, the brand and coveted customizer will link once again before the end of 2018 to launch a Fall 2018 collection.
