Nike continues its push of the Air More Uptempo silhouette by introducing a brand new city-inspired version of the popular basketball sneaker. Paying homage to New York City, this brand new iteration will be the first of many Uptempos to release themed after a major city in the U.S.

Releasing in a heather gray leather upper, Nike adds a navy blue hue to the bold lettering on the side panels of the shoes. With hits of white featured on the Nike logos and the big, bold “NYC” branding on the side, the sneakers sit atop of an Air Bubble Unit and a heather gray colored outsole.

Considered one Nike's most popular basketball silhouettes, the Nike Air More Uptempo became highly popular in 1996 when—then Chicago Bulls player Scottie Pippen—wore the shoe on the court for the entire 1995-96 season. Released originally in the signature black and white colorway, the sneaker made its return in 2016, and since then has been re-released in several other versions.

A release date for the Nike Air More Uptempo NYC iteration is set for Wed., Dec. 27. Launching at select Nike retailers and accounts the shoes will retail for a suggested price of $160.
