Rap music too many times focuses on the ego. It’s all about who’s the best, who’s the hardest, who’s the coolest. That in itself can trip triggers with others. It’s cool to have feuding rappers that keep it within their raps instead of getting violent. Ice Cube and Cypress Hill, Eminem and Benzino are two examples. People think that committing crimes will get them ahead in the rap business, but that’s simply not the case. A lot of these rappers rap to get AWAY from crime and the impoverished areas they grew up in, and not to become part of the problem.

you only have it half right…you have NO IDEA who these guys are at these labels and what they are capable of. As I have said time and time again on these boards, being a rapper is an entry level JOB, coveted by people who have most likely NEVER had one and don’t understand OFFICE POLITICS. My advice for aspiring rappers…PAY ATTENTION TO THE BUSINESS.

#Rule4080…the culture of that cypher will build or destroy your cypher…look at these 25 examples of destruction, because they didn’t know…

You think them dudes are jealous of you around the way, wait IF you get in the door (93% of you will never get into the door)…the game is rigged…you gotta know somebody to be someone…but they ain’t gonna tell because you’ll cut into their bottom line (unless they can get PAID off of you, and even then they STILL won’t tell you the joke’s on you for NOT KNOWING).

Look @ Waka, ready to retire…talking about it’s too much fakeness in the game…does how you react to his music determine whether what he’s saying is correct or not? Because he’s in THAT spot many want to be in…

I agree with you on that bro. No lie, I’m an aspiring rapper myself, but I don’t talk about drugs, shooting others, how much money I have and that other shit because I never lived that life, and if I did, I wouldn’t want to rap about those subjects all the time. I’m more of a positive rapper trying to bring a message and try to encourage others who will listen.

I also agree that it’s a business, and not a game. It’s best to just have a true talent when working in the entertainment industry.

People call this the rap game, but this isn’t a game this is a business. The entertainment business isn’t for everybody, there are so many fake untalented people who’ll give off the idea, that this business is financially prosperous, that gives any moron who watches these videos and can rhyme star with bar and car, think they have what it takes to “make it,” unbeknownst to them thousands fail every year by living with that same mind state, when that doesn’t work they decide to take it into their own hand and find a gimmick, and of course the biggest if not the main misconception of being in the Rap/Hip Hop business is you gotta have “street cred” (selling dope, robbery, getting shot, shooting someone or at someone, having a criminal background, and doing hard time in the bing,) not pure unadulterated talent, fuck that “it worked for 50.” 95% of these “aspiring artist” are phony idiots who realize that, 35% would they’ll take their asses out there and get caught or killed trying to earn respect, 30% would sell a couple of nickel bags of Mary Jane (if that) and become Tony Montana, Nino Brown and Rich Porter all into one, by claiming those “bags” were “pounds of weight” while the other 30% will fake it til they make it, “Why not? It worked for Rick Ross, Lil’ Wayne and nem… Why not me?” It’s sad really, when all it takes is pure talent, but hey that the business, oh wait the game.
