Tell us a little bit about yourself. What do you do when you're not modeling?

I recently graduated from VCU with a Mass Communications Degree and Business minor.  I’m a huge fan of kickboxing and staying fit.  At heart I’m a true hipster and I listen to and love all types of music. I love anything adventurous and meeting new people.  On the flip, I love chilling with my close friends, whether having drinks or watching movies.  Last but not least I love being anywhere near moving water, whether it’s the river or the beach, it’s my ultimate therapy.

How did you get into the modeling industry?

Modeling had always been a passion of mines but living in RVA it was hard to find a way to get started and actually find work.  Weird story, I was due for my annual physical and there was a substitute nurse on duty that day who just so happened to be the owner of Model Connection.  Things took off from there and I did a lot of bridal modeling making it to Richmond Bride Magazine as well as alcohol promotion.

What would you say is the biggest misconception about you?

That I’m stuck up or bougie.  I’m honestly a little shy around big groups of people and can be socially awkward at times.  It tends to come off as otherwise.

What would you say was your greatest accomplishment in modeling? What would you say was your greatest accomplishment outside of modeling?

So far making XXL Web Candy is my greatest accomplishment.  I loved bridal modeling but it wasn’t exactly what I wanted to do with modeling.  Since rebranding as Maya Camille, it was a definite shocker to many and I was taking a huge risk with image reputation, so being recognized by a publication like XXL I’m extremely grateful. My greatest accomplishment outside of modeling would definitely be graduating from school.  There were countless times I was ready to quit but with supportive friends and family I made it.

Who is your favorite Hip-Hop artist out now? Why?

Party Next Door—His sound is a breath of fresh air; it’s different from anything out right now.  His style is very chill but his content is very relatable and catchy.

Who is your celebrity crush, and why?

Trey Songz. He’s the definition of a beautiful chocolate man.  “If It’s Hood that You Want” still makes me melt and he’s from VA, I have to represent.

What are your biggest turn-ons?

Confidence, Style, Independence, Ruthlessness—I love a man that says and does exactly what he wants.

What are your biggest turn-offs?

Being overly confident and too aggressive, closed mindedness, him having any female traits and dirty nails

What qualities do you look for in a man?

Someone who is open to trying new things, someone who listens and is consistent and does the little things to keep the relationship fresh and exciting.  He also has to make me laugh, that’s a must. I love goofiness.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Hopefully on a bigger platform in the entertainment industry.  I still want to model but get more into pop culture involving more fashion, film and television.

What is a Fun Fact about yourself?

I love raves. I have a huge love for electronic, dub step and EDM.

Any advice you would give women?

Always network and make connections, but never depend on anyone else but yourself to get the job done.  You’d be surprised how much you can do alone.
