Mz. Sammie Keeps It Classy

Instagram models, take note...sometimes, people like me take your pictures into account. That's actually how I found Mz. Sammie. She's an aspiring model and she's building her resume now, but she keeps it classy...and a little sassy...and she was an absolute delight to talk to. Here, she talks about the misconceptions of urban models, what advice she'd give to an aspiring model, and what she feels about Drake.

Tell us about yourself, in your own words.

I'm a real laid back person. I don't have to do too much to really have a good time. I would be the true definition of a "California" girl. I live for bikinis,the beach, and sun bathing. I don't mind staying in watching movies. But at times I get a little urge to want to get out and dance the night away with my girls.

What would you say is the biggest misconception of urban models? How do you defy that stereotype?

I would say one of the biggest misconceptions urban models get is that we're not smart. I've seen some models turn their brands into something bigger than just modeling. It takes a smart person to do that. You have to be smart enough to choose the right team behind you. I always remind myself how important it is to be more then pretty. Anybody can be made up into something these days. I actually have substance -- that's something I pride myself on.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years from now?

In 5 years I'll be 27. I'm sure by then I'll be well known in the modeling industry. But I want to be BIGGER than just that. I want to be a model turned mogul, running my own company. There's so much in that I want to do. I'm extremely ambitious. I studied fashion design at FIDM. I definitely want to have my fashion line being shown at Fashion Week. I have dreams and that makes me feel so alive knowing that I can do whatever I put my mind to.

Who is your celebrity crush, and why?

My celebrity crush would have to be Drake. He's so smooth and good with his words -- I feel like I know him already. I love his whole style/get up. Everything just flows with him and I like that. I've had lust for him ever since "Best I Ever Had" came out. Overall he's really talented.

What does a man have to do to win your heart?

Just be yourself. It sounds simple but it's often made complicated. I like men who can make me laugh. I enjoy genuine connections, nothing shallow. Money,fancy dinners and all that means nothing if you mean nothing to me.

What would be the one piece of advice you'd give a girl who's looking to be a model?

Stay true to yourself. There's going to be a million people telling you how you should do things. Follow your heart by all means and don't let anyone tell you different about something you feel in your heart.Stay positive,find your lane and stick with it. Overall, just do you! Don't try to emulate anyone else -- being yourself will get you far.
