Amber Rose has a lot on her plate and a lot more perhaps to say. The blonde bombshell from Philadelphia recently sat down with XXL to talk about everything from her involvement on BET's Master of The Mix, her campaign with Smirnoff, how she reacted to ex-boyfriend Kanye West's on-stage apology, being in love with Wiz Khalifa and working on her music. —Mark Lelinwalla

XXLMag.com: Tell us about your involvement with Master of The Mix?

Amber Rose: Well, Season Two of Master of the Mix on BET, I’m a judge and I’m on the panel with Kid Capri. Just Blaze is the host. I’m not a DJ, I don’t know how to scratch and I don’t know how to mix, but I do know how to party. One of my jobs is actually to travel the world and party. So, I solely base my opinion on that when it comes to the DJs and how people react to them and how the party goes. When the party is going great, everybody is dancing and doing well and then they spin a record that makes everybody leave, that’s when I come in and let them know that they totally killed the party and made me want to go home.

Which of the new Smirnoff liquors get you in the mood to party?

Well, Smirnoff just introduced two new flavors – Smirnoff fluff marshmallow and whip cream. I’m doing the whole campaign, so my face is going to be everywhere. I can’t wait to see the billboard in Time Square. I’m really, really excited. They’re so good. They literally taste like marshmallow and whip cream, so you could put cream soda with it, orange soda with it. It’s just really, really good.

On a completely other note, you were recently in your hometown of Philadelphia for your man Wiz Khalifa’s concert and he thanked your city for making you.

Yes, he did.

Well, Kanye West did the same thing a few days later. Did you catch that and what do you make of it?

I did. I’ve been in the studio, I’ve been working, designing. I haven’t really been on the Internet and keeping up with current events. A lot of people were asking me about it and therefore made me go and look at it. I looked at it and one thing he said is, ‘If you love someone tonight, hold on to them tight.’ And he also said, ‘When I told you I didn’t like your outfit, I was an asshole. When I told you I didn’t like your hair, I was an asshole.’ He wrote that song for me and he was an asshole. I don’t hold any grudges, but sometimes you don’t realize what you have until it’s gone. Sometimes when you have something so beautiful and great, you take advantage of it because you think it’s going to be there forever and it’s not.

Did you take it as an apology, though?

I did. If it was an apology, I accept his apology. I don’t think it sounded malicious or mean or anything like that. Me being a compassionate person, I would never hold any grudges against my ex. I appreciate the nice gesture. That was my hometown and stuff like that. I wish him a lot of happiness. I hope he finds a beautiful girl and I hope he treats her better than he treated me because I’m happy I found total happiness with Wiz.

It was recently announced that Wiz signed Lola Monroe as the first lady of Taylor Gang. We thought you were the first lady of Taylor Gang already!

I am the queen. She is the first lady. Lola is the shit. You guys really got to get into her. She’s super talented, she’s my sister, she’s super duper dope and she is the first lady of Taylor Gang…period. She’s going to come in, she’s killin the game and she’s working really hard. Me and Lola both have very, very similar lives. We were both strippers at 15-years-old. We both been through a really hard struggle. We’ve both been scrutinized for a lot of different things.

A while back, you mentioned you’re working on your music. How’s it coming along?

Yeah, I’m working on music fulltime. I been in New York for four days and I don’t sleep. Between interviews, designing for Members Only and the studio, I’m really, really into it. My music is club music, it’s house music, it’s singing, rapping, having fun. It’s world music. You’re definitely going to hear my music in Ibiza, London and I can’t wait for it to come out. Someone really, really huge just sent me a track the day before yesterday.

Oh yeah? Who?

[Laughs]. I can’t tell you who it is, but I’ll say he’s huge. He’s huge and he sent me a track that he wanted me to be on, I wrote to it and sent it back to him. He was blown away, he loved it. He may throw that shit out, tomorrow, man.

What if Kanye would send you a beat?

You guys! I haven’t said much about my past relationship because it’s not relevant in my life. I know people want to talk about it, but it’s not relevant in my life. I’m with Wiz now, he’s the love of my life, he’s my soulmate. When it comes to my ex, if he was to give me a beat and I like it, maybe I would accept it. But I don’t want to feel like I owe anybody something, so it wouldn’t be easy.

You were on Hot 97’s Cipha Sounds and Rosenberg a few weeks back and Rosenberg suggested an ass-off between you and Kim Kardashian. I don’t know if you knew this, but XXL took them up on that suggestion. Do you want to know the Amber Rose-Kim Kardashian Ass-Off results?

Yeah [Laughs].

She won 64 – 36%.

I appreciate [XXL doing that]. When [Rosenberg] asked me that, I said, ‘Yeah, I have a bigger booty than her,’ but I didn’t think it would be everywhere. It was everywhere! It turned out to be a big deal. Congrats Kim! [Laughs]. She’s way more famous than me, she has way more followers and she’s been out a much longer time than me. It’s only right. I’ll win next time [Laughs].

Also during that Hot 97 interview, you made your disgust for Funkmaster Flex obvious. Then you tweeted him that you’re following him with a smiley face. So, is that squashed?

I called him an asshole for bullying me. Cipha was like, ‘Listen, maybe you have to understand that that’s just his job and he’s really not like that.’ I’m a very loving, compassionate person, who understands a lot of things. So, I was like, ‘You know what…a lot of people think I’m a filthy whore, they think I leak my pictures, they think I use people to get on and I’m really not that person, so maybe I should give Flex a chance.’ I hit up Flex like, ‘Cipha said you’re really a great guy and I want to give you the benefit of the doubt.’ He said the same thing to me. He said follow me and come to Hot 97. I’m going to do Hot 97 with Flex.

Maybe he’ll drop the bomb on one of your joints someday!

Yeah! That’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to wait till I have a song. Flex, come on, you owe me one dog. [Laughs].

Your birthday was October 21. You tweeted out a pic of a dozen roses and balloons. That was from Wiz, of course, right?

Yeah. It was 25 dozen roses and the room was covered in balloons. He bought me this watch. He’s super romantic. He just definitely knows how to treat a lady. I never ever met a guy like Wiz. Ever. He woke me out of bed. He made everyone in Taylor Gang come and sing to me. It was just really, really cute. Then he brought me out on stage in Honolulu and told the crowd that I’m the love of his life. It was awesome. He’s an amazing person.

There were pictures that surfaced where it looked like ya’ll were getting married. Any truth to that? It does seem like you’re en-route to that with Wiz.

Yeah, totally. We’re totally going to get married. But no, we’re not engaged. He’s overseas right now on his European tour and I’m out here working in the studio. We definitely don’t want to get married and be away from each other. We want to establish each other to the point, where we can get married and take a couple of months off to really just enjoy our time together and have some babies.
