He should put out a joint like the new Kanye with nothing but the best prodducers. Have a joint by Dre, a joint by Rock, a joint by Premp, a joint by Electronica, and so on. honestly check this. i didnt cop the album right 10$ we talking distant relatives, btw great album… but what i did do was went 2 see my man nasir and jr. gong put on an amazing live show, that was 50$ bones.. cd’s arent that dip no more regardless, The Lost Tapes 2 is like a cult following asked for by the fans for the fans!!! so thats why its crazy for the label to not put out, cuz the people demanded this product! i thought la reid n nas were tight?

Man, some of you are fools if you still aren’t able to appreciate Nas after all this time? Nas is the last true link left to the real golden age of hip hop, when lyricism and street smarts could be found in the same cd jewel case. How the fuck could a record lable not want to put out Lost Tapes II? Did anyone at Def Jam even listen to the first Lost Tapes? The shit was fuckin legendary, and to me, the first Lost tapes sits at number three and can be placed right under Illmatic and Stillmatic. Stop being cheap and let the homie Nas give the people who love and support hip hop what they want! And to these pseudo hip hop fans who scream they are tired of the shit they are hearing on the radio, but still wont get off their broke asses to buy a Nas album like Distant Relatives or Hip Hop is Dead, yet you wonder why the game is fucked up. Don’t complain that the house is hot, but continue keep the god damn oven on. You want real hip hop? Then support real hip hop. You want fake shit, well, then fuck you because you’re a lost cause anyways.

d b, good points. But Untitled went gold which says alot during this climate. And didn’t HHID debut at #1. Dude is still relevant, the problem is he has a cult following whereas Jay has infiltrated (masterfully) corporate opportunities so the comparison makes it look as if Nas is not making business sense. Think about it, dude finds ways to self promote his own albums by starting conversations just with album titles, the labels aren’t pushing shit.

Fans don’t support artists anymore like they used to. What ever happened to people who actually like boom bap? If fans want an certain artists to continue to survive or prosper they need to BUY (I capitalized that because I felt it needed imphasis) the material. Sure they still could bootleg it back then (and now more than ever), but most bought the stuff as shown by record sales (I believe the last Platinum album Nas had was Street’s Disciple.) Thats the problem, Def Jam doesn’t believe they’re getting anything out of their investment.
How many albums does Nas have to do with Def Jam anyway?

If any of you clowns had matured since Illmatic’s inception you would be able to appreciate his last two albums. Mainstream rap has become so dumb-downed most of you cats don’t know what he’s talking about.
