Sha....You got some issues man I think you need some counseling...To help your ass from bouncing off the walls when you be down some. No one could've said it better than that, "White Boy", Eminem. If you can criticize a guest blogger, then you should write an article to counter it. Except I'm pretty sure you can't use the words Wha Wha, which I'm not sure who would use in the first place, or slitting wrists in a bathtub.

People handing out XXL's like faucet water. Damn ya'll smh... I'm sorry but while there were some good points made in this post a lot of it seemed too biased. Eminem stepped it up to higher level than any artist in recent memory when it comes to lyrics flow and wordplay. So what if he didn't go at anyone else? He kept the attention on HIS music. I do agree that artists have lost their backbones though. In the past it was so much more competitive and I DO miss that. The issue isn't with the artists though, far from it in my opinion. The issue lies with the FANS as they dictate what's acceptable and what's not. I know a handful of lesser known artists have gone at some of 'big cats' in the game with more than enough skill to warrant a response. Yet, all I hear from the fans are "how many records did he sell? He doesn't have an album out? Oh such and such shouldn't waste their time." WTF? Come on now THAT'S what's wack with today's hip hop.

Cause you don't understand him, it don't mean that he nice It just means you don't understand all the bullshit that he write

Off of Blueprint2, better than ANYTHING Nas said. But then again no one listens to lyrics, they just like punchlines that 4 year old kids would make.

Yo don i'm saying 50 made it less about skills. ross won the battle that never really happened because he used skills verses gimics.

no, no battle today features skills. joe buddens will go in and try and keep it on wax but get a black eye. i bet the black eyed peas can serve most "hard" mcs out there in a battle

even in the battle circuit, battles today are fixed. plus, they all pre written and almost pre scripted.

as for nas and jayz. nas got so many people hype because jayz woke him up. However, ether was like nas throwing a few haymakers. it was a flash of what nas should be and could be doing his entire career. again, listen to nas's disses and what he is talkin about. and what really went down.

like he's calling jay gay yet talks about him eatin foxy and jay and AI banged his girl. come on son.

Hol' up double f...

You can't overlook the intangibles of Ross, yet start using intangibles on Nas...you understand what I'm saying...

"50 is <strike>a major</strike> part of the reason battles don’t extist."

^ cause cats don't wanna be "that guy". They know he's there to pull that card.

Another reason is a lot of these cats ain't got the skills to win a battle.

Thanks y'all for having a good rap discussion discussion today, I enjoyed it.

Great blog I always think the same. It seems like artists don't even beef for competition anymore just for people to give them attention (50)

The best battle in a while has been Saigon/Buddens and that went on for like a week or some shit like that haha And it's fucking annoying how rappers talk about how hard they are but when another rapper challenges them, they act like there above it... Beef is a part of hip-hop! No rapper/whatever the fuck you are is bigger than their profession

Remember when Big dissed Premo on his own beat lol that won't ever happen again

But you're right about the attitude thing.

Competition is a part of life, even actors compete in movies to show who's better. N^ggaz is competing on the block for custies. Churches are competing for followers. The rap game is no different.

Just felt like u was challenging what I said...no disrespect.... but yeah nigga 50's antics are ridiculous....they are funny don't get me wrong...but if he went at someone on wax and lyrically murdered em that would impress me more, thats hip-hop. He can save the interview jabs, skits, and prank calls, he shouldn't feel Shyne is that much beneath him that he ain't worth his time on wax, that kinda attitude is wack, Hov also...Joey puts out out this whole song addressing him and all Jay says back is "tell you ordinary Joes to Budden up".... thats corny, man up and get on the mic.

Relax yo, it a discussion. I pointed out that Jay pulled a shenanigan on Prodigy, a couple of years before 50 was even relevant in the game. Yeah he stunted then put out the music, but he still stunted.

Nas was gonna do it too, but they didn't want him to sh^t on Jay like that at SummerJam '02.

But neither of them do sh^t like how 50 does.

Nah, these days there is lanes for everything. If you want to see battle rappers, go watch Grind Time or Ultimate Rap League. That battling on wax shit is corny these days. At least in those lanes you have a clear count of how many battles won, how many battles lost, judges and all that. With the rap game it's different, I mean some people still think Jay-Z won the battle with Nas, because everyone has a different opinion. I think going the route you want artist to take is dangerous and reckless and there isn't any reason for it, their job on a major label is to make compelling, relatable, marketable songs. Substance and concepts are needed for those things.

Take T.I.'s "I'm back" WHO is he talking about? Is it a fake person made up in his head that he is battling, or is it Shawty Lo, AlphMega, etc. ? Do either one of those names interest you? That's probablythe reason why he doesn't say any names. But let's take T.I. and put him in a acapella battle at Grind TIme, and he's going to lose, i.e. Cassidy vs Freeway.

There's different lanes for ALL rappers, just stay in your lane.
