I'd like to see, and I think I speak for everybody that reads rap pages taking the writers' sincerity for granted, a year-end wrap-up list from the staff and contributing writers&artists&staff to weigh in on 2006's noteworthy moments. Fuck that - I really care to know about the albums that got run even if they didn't get run in the reviews. I'm interested in what the music director felt to be solid LPs this go round.

It'd be nice to see what listening trends bubble up in a compiled joint too, no? Is this feasible? Or what polling just dem ego trip boyz so the views expressed wouldn't really be that of XXL? or some shit

p.s.
I've always taken offense when an official & independent lp gets press in the misc/etc ghetto behind the main review section; A dope record is deprived of shine because it goes withoiut a ranking and thusly isn't, at least in one superficial and commercial way, on the same level as its XXL-rated peers coming to stores at around the same time.

A good example of this is Dilla's Donuts. I've played it more than any other lp and amongst his other albums and projects stands as my favorite for a few reasons (no wack lyrics, beats that grow on you, unpolished). After 6 months Can't Mao rate shit too? I know why the caged bird [got] flipped.
