Alright, Pun (RIP) and Pit, well let’s see reggaeton is coming up, remember the era coined “the latin explosion” when Marc Anthony, J.Lo and Ricky Martin all dropped albums that were huge sellers. Well, when Pun was alive in order to sell a lot of records he couldn’t do a bilingual album– his fans were black and latino and the occasional white cats. Pitbull just happened to step on the scene when reggeaton was big–if you notice all ethnicities can get down to reggaeton. Go to a club that plays hip-hop, reggae, and reggaeton–it is a diverse scene–not only latinos. I am don’t speak spanish fluently and a lot of the time I gotta ask what things mean, but I love reggaeton–Wisin y Yandel, Tego, Don Omar, Voltio, Calle 13, & Ivy Queen–all them. My point is that Pun could have spit in English and probably in Spanish, but it wouldn’t have done as well because we hip-hop fans weren’t ready. Timing is everything especially in the music industry. Don’t hate on Pun cause he was the man too, he would have been proud to be a part of this evolution of hip-hop and latin culture emerging. Pit is a hip-hop artist who happens to be Cuban but he stepped out when Latin music is more appreciated and respected.

On some real shit, New York was “on top” as far as hip-hop was concerned, but anyone can tell you, including industry pros that it an evolving are whether the talent is from Texas or Miami–hip-hop like technology is changing and evolving. Pitbull is one of those dudes who took a little from all realms of hip-hop–some of his shit sounds like it could’ve been created by a NY nigga. His roots are southern, therein he creates music that is highly influenced by Miami flava. Some of yall ignorant bastards need to evolve and get off the same shit. I like the song “Born N Raised” by Dj Khaled featuring Trick Daddy, Pitbull, and Rick Ross. That shit was hard as fuck to be from Miami. That’s the only song I know of with Pitbull that I like so far. There might be at least one more tho.
