F and L from F and F… a classic, plain and simple. U could tell he wuz aimin’ for pure music over a money makin’ hit (insert “Ballin’” sample) dat’ll get thrown away two months from now… And about havin’ two verses, a few cats adopt that style in their songs… Nobody said anything when Twista did it on Kill Us All… He put out sum real Hip Hop, back to tha roots, Golden Age style. My only question is how did he manage to get sum REAL MUSIC into tha mainstream sucessfully…

I notice a trend amongst music fans these days. And, I am not calling out the so-called “80′s babies.” I talkin about music fans in general. How is an artist/group going gold or platinum affecting how you view their album? Seriously, none of us makes money off the album sales. As long as I get buy a dope product, I gives a fuck if a million other people buy it. If I was the only person to buy “Illmatic”, “The Blueprint”, “Southernplayalistic…”, “Game Theory”, “Fish Scale”, and yes the very CLASSIC “Food & Liquor” I would give a flying fuck. This is not a dig on “Fin” either. To each his own, but “Food & Liquor” is the best release I heard this year.

How is F&L a classic when the album sounds like it’s half-done. Some tracks have only 2 verses, the production is spotty and overall it just seems like something’s missing. I appreciate his style and the fact that he’s trying something new but that doesn’t give him an automatic pass. By his own admission the album is incomplete. They should have taken their time and made a good album then they wouldn’t have to bitch about “good” music not selling.

This here is a good blog. Nice job on revealing the sample to “REAL”. Not only was that song great, but so was the entire album. I bet that you see everybody give the album a 4 or a 4.5 on reviews simply because they fear calling it a classic. Well let me say it, Lupe Fiasco’s Food & Liqour is a classic. *****
