It was hard for us to travel out of town because we didn’t have a car. It was my wife who suggested that we could just rent a car at a car rental shop. It wasn’t really that expensive and it was a good decision to make because we really needed it. Thanks to my wife! My boss owned a Nissan Navarra but it broke down when we had a business travel last month. We needed to travel again and so one of my colleagues suggested that we would just rent a car. It was an option since we really need to make the trip. We were thankful that we got to rent a car.

I had to read about this dumb ass negro that had his little say about The Roots new album which by far is one of there better ones. And to diss J-Dilla who will go down as the most important people to ever bless this thing called HIP-HOP is some ignorant ass shit!! And as I read through all of the entries, I see I am not alone. No wonder I don’t read XXL especially if your dumb ass is workin for them.

Well, everything across the spectrum has been said here already, but here’s my 2 cents…

Fuck Bol, I think you need some better headphones (Sennheiser 250 or even the 100 or the AKG 24) or a decent set of speakers (Logitech z5500 for PC or a Yamaha AVR amp and some Mini Paradigm monitors). Also, may want to go to the doctor have the ears cleaned out (you will be surprised at what they find in there and how much better everything sounds). I think you will be a much happier camper then and listen with a less jaded ear.

With that said, I agree that about a third to almost half of this album could have been much better, but the parts that work (such as the first four BANGIN tracks!), are hard to deny. Not many are doing this sort of thing in hip hop and they are still putting out strong (but not perfect) material after like 14 years.

This is certainly very good music and if you’ve got a decent sound system, you will enjoy it (for crying out loud, the AKG 24′s are like $30 bucks…) The beats are insanely lovely throughout and worth the trip alone. Black Thought can flow, but does lack in the personality department, but once again something we know going in already. Overall, this is better and more focused than the last couple of platters they’ve cosigned.

What are you smokin?! This album is dope but I’m not going to dwell on that because ultimately it’s just one man’s opinion. My beef is with your ignorant ass comments about the late great J-Dilla. That really struck a nerve with me. You were way out of line with your comments. Especially since he died over an illness he had no control over and not over no bullshit that he could have prevented. Next time please stick to the review of the album and stop shittin’ on a legend who is not here to defend himself, asshole!!!
