Well hopefully my label(2nd To None Entertainment) and myself(born in 1986) will change that trend but the 80′s babies do have some people that will make that cut like Juelz Santana, Bow Wow, Lloyd Banks, T.I., Chris Brown, Beyonce, Ciara, and other up and coming young artists and executives. Check that graphic again in about 5 years and it will be changed by then.

The difference is those dudes were real music industry dudes. Puff, Dame, Irv, etc. went out and got real artists and worked real artists. These f-ing DJs turned A&Rs dont know what the fuck they’re doing.

I just want to know how come all of yall think that the only way to come about making money, being black, is through entertainment. We are the only race that most of the people that make money make it though entertainment . Most other races make there money though bussiness moves. Self made millionaires through bussiness moves. Thats what more blacks need to start thinking about is making money without using entertainment as there goal. Thats how people look at blacks as “ENTERTAINERS” you can never be on the Forbes top 10 list as an “ENTERTAINER” and thats my goal to make it to the billion dollar mark as a “BUSSINESS MAN”, excuse me “BLACK BUSSINESS MAN”. I was looking at CNN and they were saying that Hillary Clinton wanted to list Oprah as here running mate in the next election and they tried to belittle Oprah with all the money she has the “First Black Female Billionaire” as an “ENTERTAINER” saying that she has no political power she is just an entertainer. Now that made me laugh all that money and still thought of as an “ENTERTAINER” / “DANCING COON”. Remember B.I.G – BUSSINESS INSTEAD OF GAME.

I don’t think hip hop has a peak or bottom. The reason so many children of the 70′s got the paper is the commericalization of urban culture in the 90′s. Folks like Steve Stoute who are great at creating opportunities learned the game at an early age, when it took pure ambition and a hot record to blow. Today the formula is much more complicated. Although the gatekeepers ie. Puffy, Lyor, Iovine, Dre, Rosenburg, have made fortunes its not in their interest to change the game cus they own the board. For too long artists and fans have complained about the labels and failed to realize the business of selling music is entirely different today and offers new opportunites. Instead of chasing labels as artists did in the 90′s, its time to use your own distribution savy to get to the consumers directly. Its takes money which means it may take working a 9-5 but it can be done. Money is the motivation but the grind is a constant determinate in whether success will be the result. Puffy put it down and are reaping what they sowed but it took time and patience. Props the the NYC Giants of the 90′s, its now time to look forward to the next crop of visionaries to take us to the next level of success as a genre.
