The problem here is that when one is on the short end of the stick in racial, economic, or gender inequities, it's easier to talk about being in the oppressor's shoes and "how I would run things" than it is to devise a better system. But truthfully, this country's power structure is too enthrenched for us to do either.

That being said, your article is spot-on.

Didn't Frasier produce Girlfriends?

But seriously, you're a kind of on to something. The problem is, you keep throwing that "when “they” say it’s about race, it’s not" and that confuses your slower readers. Really, when "they" say its about race they are either trying to disprove an opposing viewpoint or they have a weak argument and support it using using the typical card, the race card, to prove their point.

However, it must be dually noted what the definition of "race" really is. Amidst multiple genocides in history (Euraisa), the dilution of various indigenous peoples of various lands (Austrailia, the Islands), and the cramming/shackling of your great-great-great-grandgathers below the poop deck etc., there really are hardly any pure races.

With that in mind, we are still left with needing a deck to play with, so we have create African-Americans, European Caucasions, Hispanics, etc.

So, now we have some cards in the deck. and suddenly, without any actual REAL validity to these cards, we can throw them around and look like we made ingenious correlations between "race" and social standing, school dropout rates, income, etc.

(Lost train of thought)

Damn! This is on point, on so many levels!.

Everything About Raymond is funny as hell!

And many are so uncomfortable to talk abou race, class, gender issues because they a) benefit from the power dynamics or b) long to benefit from the current system through acceptance, not resistance.
