Jay-Z Towers Over Competition on Forbes’ ‘Hip-Hop Cash Kings’ List

Last month, Jay-Z came in at No. 6 on Forbes’ magazine’s annual Top Earning Musicians of 2010 list. Now, not surprisingly, he tops the magazine’s Hip-Hop Cash Kings list—a rundown of rap’s top 20 earners.

Hov’s $63 million earned over the last year more than doubles the runner up, Diddy, and his $30 mil tally. Akon, no longer as dominant as he once was musically, is continuing to rake in cash in other business ventures, and came in at No. 3 with $21 million, slightly topping Lil Wayne’s $20 million. Dr. Dre landed at No. 5 ($17 million), followed by Ludacris ($16 million) and Snoop Dogg ($15 million). Others with the magic touch on the boards rounded out the top 10, as Timbaland ($14 million), Pharrell ($13 million), and Kanye West ($12 million), came in at No. 8, No. 9, and No. 10, respectively.

Drake ($10 million) made his debut on the list at No. 11. T.I. and Swizz Beatz were knotted up at the No. 12 spot, each earning $9 million. Eminem and 50 Cent were familiarly linked, this time not musically, but on the list, each holding down the No. 14 slot with $8 million earned, which they also shared with Young Jeezy. Common’s $7 mil was good for the No. 17 spot, while Soulja Boy, the youngest member of the list, earned $6 million to tie with T-Pain at No. 18. Southern representers Lil' Jon, Gucci Mane, and Rick Ross closed out the list, each earning $5 million. —Adam Fleischer
