In one of the more bizarre hip-hop arrests of the year (and that’s really saying something) Kelis was booked on misdemeanor charges for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest without violence in Miami early Friday morning. I spent a good hour on the Internet yesterday trawling through the mess of pseudo-journalism out there, trying to figure out what actually happened. To no avail.

Your guess is pretty much as good as mine on this one, but it looks like what went down is that Nas and his boys were approached by some female cops on the street that had gone undercover as prostitutes. K saw them hit up her hubby and went off, apparently screaming racial profanities. Of course, when they pulled out their badges, this only made Mrs. Jones even more mad. Obviously the sting operation was disrupted and had to be aborted, which apparently is grounds for arrest. A police report claimed that Kelis' actions “caused people walking by to stop and form a crowd. The sidewalk was blocked by the disturbance causing people to walk in the street and caused traffic to stop.” And that's a serious problem, clearly.

I’m going to have to go ahead and side with Kelis on this one. If I saw some streetwalkers trying to solicit my man, I might get a little choked myself. I might need to ring the alarm. And if I found out they were actually police officers busy trying to entrap him and throw his ass in jail, you might find me causing a commotion too.

The weirdest part of the whole story, though, is what Esco had to say about the whole thing. Apparently he claimed to have mistook the ladies of the night for members of the Pussycat Dolls. This is obviously a little suspect, but utterly hilarious nonetheless.

There’s two things I’m willing to bet on here. First: the hip-hop cops had to have had a hand in this fiasco. And second: that upcoming MTV reality show Me & Mr. Jones is going to be highly entertaining.
