Def Jam Rapstar is shaping up to play like a hip-hop version of the hugely popular Guitar Hero and Rock Band video games.

As previously reported, the game is a collaborative project from Def Jam Interactive and 4mm Games, featuring artists from across all the four major labels, as Def Jam Interactive is separated from the record label.

USA Today reports that the game will include more than 40 songs, including 2Pac’s “I Get Around,” Lil Wayne’s “A Milli,” Kanye West’s “Gold Digger,” Slick Rick’s “Children’s Story,” T.I.’s “Live Ya Life,” Jeezy’s “Put On,” Dr. Dre’s “Nuthing’ But a ‘G’ Thang,” Biggie’s “Juicy” and Wu Tang Clan’s “C.R.E.A.M,” that players can rap along to.

Rapstar will also allow users to record and upload 30-second video clips of themeselves performing on social networks like Facebook. “We’ll start to find all these great people that really would never have a chance in any other game to express themselves,” Def Jam Enterprises president Kevin Liles told the paper.

The game is expected to drop this fall for Xbox 360, Sony Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii. —Brooklyne Gipson
