Last night (January 26) Lupe Fiasco visited Tony Touch’s Toca Tuesday’s radio show on Shade 45 to speak on his forthcoming disc on Atlantic Records.

The Chicago-bred rapper offered a glimpse at his third studio album over the Sirius/XM airwaves for fans. “It's called Lasers,” he said, “[It] stands for ‘Love Always Shines Every Time, Remember the Smile.’”

Apparently the already leaked “I’m Beaming” will serve as the first street single. “[It] wasn’t meant to be the first single, but it’s the first look, produced by The Neptunes… It’s actually the first record on the album [as well].”

Along with Chad Hugo and Pharrell Williams, who have two songs on the album, Lupe worked with a new producer from Las Vegas named King David. “We did like five joints,” Lupe shared. “I got Soundtrakk, he blessed me with a joint… I got Danjahandz on there… [and] my band, 1500 or Nothing.”

As far as guest spots are concerned Fiasco said, “I try and stay below the radar of getting the big act to kind of blow me up.”

There was a rumor that Internet favorite Jay Electronica would have a cameo on the LP, but Lupe explained he had bigger plans. “I wanna do a whole album with Jay,” he told the New York DJ, “He’s a good guy, [and] I respect him as an MC."

Fiasco is uncertain when Lasers will hit stores, but he recently turned in the finished album to Atlantic. He even hinted at possibly dropping another release by the end of the year, “I might do that, he revealed, “If there’s time, maybe, if there’s room.” —Elan Mancini
